The boom has been fuelled by a number of factors, including the introduction of diesel-electric vehicles (EVs) and the scrapping of a five-year ban on the use of petrol.
However, there have also been major failures of leadership, with many trucking firms making the wrong decisions and leaving thousands of drivers without jobs.
